Melania Trump’s Longtime Makeup Artist says she was Canceled by the Beauty Industry for Working with Her
Nicole Bryl, longtime makeup artist for First Lady Melania Trump, opened up about the professional fallout she’s faced for her willingness to work with the Trump family. Appearing on the Return on Identity podcast this week, Bryl revealed how her career in the beauty industry was significantly impacted by her association with Melania and Ivanka Trump.
Bryl, who has worked with the Trump family for decades, explained that when she began working with Melania, the beauty industry took a sharp turn. “Because I was working with Melania, who’s, you know, Donald’s wife, all of a sudden, beauty didn’t become beauty anymore, it became political,” she said. “And you know, I was so naive at the time. I didn’t understand why all the doors shut. People totally canceled me.”
She described how, as a result of her work with the first lady, many in the industry distanced themselves from her. Bryl claimed she faced pressure to sever her ties with the Trumps or to stop mentioning them on her social media. Despite this, she remained steadfast in her decision not to denounce the family.
“They wouldn’t talk to me. They wouldn’t take my calls. They stopped sending me products,” Bryl recalled. “Lipstick didn’t become lipstick anymore. Products were not just products anymore. It became something more. And you know, when you’re going through something for the first time, you’re very naive about all of it.”
Bryl also touched on the financial strain of standing by her clients, admitting that she faced the threat of going “broke” because of her stance. However, she emphasized her refusal to be bullied into changing her position. “No one’s going to bully me,” she declared. “And so, if that means that, you know, I’m gonna have a lot of people not like me, I’m fine with that because I love my client, and I’m not leaving her side.”

She expressed deep loyalty to Melania Trump, calling her “one of the most amazing people I’ve ever known or worked with.” Bryl added that the First Lady herself has been a target of bullying, which further strengthened Bryl’s resolve to support her. “She’s been nothing but kind, and she herself has been bullied, and I’m not walking away from that,” Bryl concluded.
