What Would Melania Get if She Divorced Donald Trump?

President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump are in one of the most stressful marital situations in politics, as the former first couple face constant scrutiny and ongoing speculation.

According to the details, rumors started after Melania suddenly canceled a trip with the president and went on a solo trip to Florida instead.

The former first lady could receive as much as $68 million in a divorce settlement if she officially cuts ties with her husband, former United States (US) President Donald Trump, according to a high-profile divorce lawyer.

The pair first met in 1998 when a young Melania Knauss was introduced to the then-real estate mogul. They have been married for 15 years and have one son, Barron, 14, together.

Their marriage has been in the spotlight since Mr Trump lost the 2020 election to Democrat Joe Biden.

Both past wives of the former US president, Ivana Trump and Marla Maples, contested their agreements and it is believed that Melania will do the same. In the end, Ivana was awarded $14 million in cash, $350,000 in annual alimony, and child support payments of $300,000 each year for their three children. The former Mrs. Trump also snagged their Greenwich, Connecticut, mansion and a Trump Plaza apartment. After a brief battle, Maples settled for just $2 million.

Ivana walked away with a 45-room mansion in Connecticut, a flat in Trump Plaza, and use of the Mar-a-Lago, Florida, for one month a year. Half of Maples’ $2 million settlement was for her to buy a house, so there was no need to divvy up their personal real estate portfolio.

However, Melania has been married to Trump the longest, so could be expected to have used that to her benefit in property negotiations.

She personally owns a flat in Trump Tower that’s separate to the family’s penthouse home, but with her Slovenian-born parents now living in the US, perhaps she’d prefer to take the cash like Maples and buy a roomier place.

As Trump is now out of office, and after signing a prenuptial agreement, what would Melania walk away with? According to ex-Trump aides, the former first lady is rumored to be “counting the minutes” until she can divorce the man who she met in 1998 and married seven years later.
