Meghan Markle’s Concern Over Royal Influence on Prince Harry Sparks Plans to Stay Involved

Meghan Markle has reportedly purchased a holiday home in Portugal for herself, Prince Harry, and their children, aiming to maintain a strong connection with her husband amid concerns about potential royal influence. The Duchess of Sussex’s move is seen as an effort to ensure that she and Harry remain connected, even as he contemplates visiting his family in the UK.

An insider shared with Closer that “buying in Portugal is a shrewd move for Meghan.” The source explained, “She’s deeply concerned that the Royal Family might manipulate Harry into reintegrating without her, so she wants to be proactive in making sure she’s not isolated or pushed to the sidelines.”

The purchase of the European property offers Meghan a sense of security and flexibility. According to the insider, the Duchess hopes that if security concerns are adequately managed, she will “give her blessing for Harry to take Archie and Lilibet to see their grandpa, King Charles, at some point.”

By having a home in Portugal, Meghan can accompany the children without feeling restricted or “trapped,” allowing her to stay connected with Harry while offering their children exposure to their royal heritage.

The decision highlights Meghan’s commitment to balancing family ties with her own need for independence. With the holiday home in Portugal, Meghan aims to create a comfortable, neutral space where she can support Harry’s connection to his family while maintaining a supportive role on her terms.
