Meghan Markle pulls in a surprising ally amid ongoing ‘ridiculous’ bashing, told royal correspondent
0News that a GoFundMe campaign was set up for Meghan Markle’s father, Thomas Markle, to celebrate his birthday has prompted candid reactions from experts. The campaign, organized by British socialite Lady Collin Campbell, who is known for her outspoken views on the Duchess of Sussex, has drawn both surprise and criticism.
Former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond didn’t hold back in her assessment, calling the GoFundMe effort “a ridiculous idea” from the start. Despite the ongoing ‘ridiculous’ bashing, Meghan Markle pulls in a surprising ally. In an interview with OK! Magazine, Bond was quoted saying, “I think it’s rather a ridiculous idea to set up a fund for Thomas Markle.”
She continued, “I’m sorry that his daughter doesn’t want him in her life and I think it’s quite cruel of Meghan. However, he has another daughter and a son who surely can perfectly well look after their father.”
Bond further criticized the campaign, pointing out that there are many people in the world in greater need of financial help than Mr. Markle. “So I think it’s really a mischief-making exercise to make Meghan look bad,” she added.
In discussing the broader family dynamics, Bond noted, “Meghan appears to have comprehensively broken all links with her American family, apart from her mother and maybe a cousin.”
Reflecting on the strained relationships within the Markle family, Bond expressed sadness for Thomas Markle, who has not met his son-in-law, Prince Harry, or his grandchildren. “I think it’s a great shame and it’s incredibly sad for Thomas not to know his son-in-law or his grandchildren. But families are complicated and feelings run deep.”
She also acknowledged the tensions between Meghan and her half-siblings, Samantha and Thomas Markle Jr., stating, “Both Samantha and Thomas Junior have said some outrageous things about Meghan, and Samantha is still looking for her day in court. It’s all incredibly sad.”
This latest development highlights the ongoing complexities and public scrutiny surrounding Meghan Markle’s relationship with her family, with the GoFundMe campaign adding another layer of controversy to an already fraught situation.
