Meghan Markle Faces Mounting Criticism from Once-Supportive Communities

Meghan Markle is reportedly bracing for potential embarrassment as an upcoming documentary, set to air on December 3rd on the German network ZDF, delves into the Sussexes’ life abroad and the challenges that followed their royal exit.

The documentary, Harry – The Lost Prince, by filmmaker Ulrike Grunewald, promises an in-depth exploration of one of the most turbulent periods for the royal family since the 1936 abdication of Edward VIII. According to The Mirror, the program will focus on the anxieties that ran high during Prince Harry and Meghan’s departure and its aftermath.

Grunewald highlights the weight of the revelations made by the Sussexes themselves, saying, “The most damaging allegations can only come from within. Revelations that shock the Royal Family only come out of Prince Harry’s or Meghan Markle’s mouths.”

Reflecting on the late Queen Elizabeth II’s perspective, she added, “I begin to understand the late Queen’s verdict that you can’t be ‘half in and half out.’” The filmmaker also addressed the backlash Meghan has faced since leaving the royal family, suggesting the Duchess of Sussex may find the criticism difficult to navigate.

“She [Meghan] might be embarrassed about the amount of criticism she now gets even in communities that used to back her after the decision to leave the Royal Family as a working member,” Grunewald said. Grunewald also pointed out the lack of visible impact from the couple’s Archewell Foundation, which claims to focus on community improvement.

“At the moment, it is hard to see any big achievement of their Archewell Foundation. But there are still voices who see the couple’s high potential, not only for the British monarchy but also for a liberal society,” she noted.

As the release of Harry – The Lost Prince approaches, the documentary is expected to generate significant conversation about the Sussexes’ evolving role and influence, both within and beyond royal circles. Whether it will offer new insights or fuel further controversy remains to be seen.
