Experts Highlight Meghan Markle’s Unfair Scrutiny Since Royal Marriage Says Author

Meghan Markle has recently faced criticism over her latest public statements, which some believe could harm her public image. The Duchess of Sussex, who spoke about her experiences with bullying during an appearance at Girls Inc., has been reminded of the bullying allegations previously made against her.

Christopher Andersen, author of The King, weighed in on the situation in an interview with Fox News, acknowledging the intense scrutiny Meghan has faced since joining the Royal Family. “In fairness, since marrying Prince Harry, she has been on the receiving end of some pretty scalding criticism—some of it legitimate, but much of it not,” Andersen said.

He noted the unusually harsh treatment Meghan has endured online, saying, “The amount of visceral anger aimed at Meghan online is quite remarkable.” While Andersen expressed some sympathy for Meghan, he also questioned whether it was wise for her to speak about being bullied, given the accusations made against her. “If Meghan feels unfairly targeted, she probably has every right to. But is it wise for someone who has been described as a workplace bully—whether it’s true or not—to complain that she is a victim of bullying? It may come off as just more egocentric whining. We’ve heard it all before,” he added.

These criticisms come as Meghan and Prince Harry continue to navigate their new lives in California, following their departure from royal duties in 2020. Their exit was marked by a public rift with the Royal Family, which included allegations of racism against their son, Prince Archie. In their widely publicized interview with Oprah Winfrey, the couple shared their grievances about their time within the Royal Family, accusing unnamed members of making racially insensitive remarks.

Since their departure, the couple has focused on various personal and charitable endeavors while raising their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. However, their continued efforts to reshape their public image have often been met with both praise and criticism, particularly as they address sensitive issues like mental health and bullying.

For many critics, including Andersen, Meghan’s decision to speak out about being a victim of bullying while accusations remain against her may complicate her public perception. Though she has faced intense public scrutiny, these remarks could further fuel debates about her credibility, especially as past allegations of workplace bullying continue to linger in the media.

As Meghan and Harry continue to advocate for their causes and build their lives outside the Royal Family, their public remarks will likely remain under the microscope, with both supporters and critics eager to weigh in on their every move.
