Meghan Markle and Prince Harry reverting back to old ways, says royal experts

Royal experts are voicing concerns that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry might turn back to creating exposés about the royal family if their contract with Netflix is terminated. This possibility was detailed by royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams in a discussion with The Mirror, where he described the couple’s behavior as both ‘unpredictable’ and ‘ruthlessly ambitious.’

Fitzwilliams elaborated on the potential implications of the Sussexes’ dealings falling through with the streaming giant. He suggested that their track record of taking bold and often unanticipated actions could lead them to revert to revealing insider details about the royal family, should their current media ventures underperform or end.

According to Mr Fitzwilliams, “They are working on new programmes for Netflix and Meghan has launched her lifestyle blog, American Riviera Orchard.” “They have lost Spotify, rather curiously Lemonade Media, which Meghan has joined, reportedly intends to place her podcasts on ice until next year.” At the same time though “nothing has come of rumours about Meghan and any political ambitions she might have.”

“Yet since their $100 million contract with Netflix began, they have done hardly anything for it.” To make matters worse, “it runs out next year and Netflix is no longer producing the series of The Crown, as they previously were.” “They might therefore have less interest in the Sussexes. If they lost this contract, with Archewell, their business and charitable foundation, having so few donors, they might well be in financial trouble.”

With all of that in mind, “Since their exposés of royal life has made megabucks,” and “little else has made money, the Royal Family better hope that this unpredictable and ruthlessly ambitious couple stays with Netflix,” he also added before signing off.

“Their unpredictable nature, combined with a ruthless ambition, raises concerns that another exposé could very well be on the horizon,” Fitzwilliams stated. He emphasized that this pattern of behavior makes it difficult to predict the couple’s next moves, especially in the context of their past interactions with the media and the royal family.

The Sussexes have previously made headlines with their candid revelations about royal life, most notably in their explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey in 2021. The interview, which aired globally, included various allegations against the royal family, which significantly heightened public and media scrutiny of both the monarchy and Harry and Meghan themselves.

Given this history, the expert’s concerns underscore the delicate balance the Sussexes must navigate between their new roles in the global media landscape and their ties to the British royal family. With their financial and creative independence tied to deals like the one with Netflix, the stakes are high for the couple to maintain a steady stream of successful projects.

Fitzwilliams’ comments reflect broader anxieties about the potential consequences of the Sussexes’ media engagements not only for the couple but also for the royal family’s public image. As the couple continues to carve out their post-royal life in the public eye, the international community remains watchful of how their decisions will shape their relationships and reputation in the years to come.
