Inside the World of Polo: Prince Harry’s Teammate Nacho Figueras Takes the Spotlight

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are conspicuously missing from the trailer of their upcoming Netflix docuseries, POLO, set to premiere on December 10, reported by GB News. The five-episode series, produced by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, provides an intimate look into the world of polo—a sport closely associated with Prince Harry. However, the focus appears to shift away from Harry himself.

The 148-second trailer highlights the lives and personal stories of professional polo players, with a particular emphasis on Harry’s close friend and teammate, Nacho Figueras. Insiders had previously hinted that Nacho would take center stage in the series.

Concerns have been raised about Harry’s limited presence in the show. “For a show about polo created by Prince Harry, viewers naturally expect him to take center stage,” a source told The Mail. “Without his prominent involvement, the series risks struggling to capture widespread interest, given polo’s niche appeal.”

Another insider described the series as “a big nothing burger,” noting the absence of significant royal figures. They added, “It’s not the Harry show, it’s the Nacho show.” This shift in focus has sparked questions about whether the series can achieve broader audience appeal without Harry playing a central role.

POLO seeks to delve into the bonds and challenges of professional polo players rather than being a direct exploration of Harry’s connection to the sport. While this creative direction might offer a fresh perspective, critics believe it could fail to attract the widespread attention Harry’s involvement might have guaranteed.

With POLO releasing shortly before the couple’s Netflix contract reportedly concludes, the stakes are high for its reception. The series will need to overcome its niche subject matter and the reduced presence of its most high-profile executive producer to match the success of the couple’s previous projects.
