Meghan Markle, alongside Prince Harry, reportedly made a significant social gaffe during Princess Eugenie’s wedding reception. According to the book Royals at War by Dylan Howard and Andy Tillett, this incident added tension between the Sussexes and Princess Eugenie, as well as her parents, Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson.

The book delves into the tumultuous period leading up to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s departure from their roles as senior royals. One notable event highlighted is a major misstep by Meghan Markle on the day of Princess Eugenie’s wedding to Jack Brooksbank.

An excerpt from Royals at War shared by The Mirror details how Meghan and Harry chose Princess Eugenie’s wedding as the moment to announce Meghan’s pregnancy. The passage reads, “Meghan put her foot in it when she decided that it would be the ideal moment to announce that she and Harry were expecting their first child.”

The book continues, “This was a huge social blunder, even if you were not a royal. Stealing the limelight from Eugenie, who was furious, as was her mother, Sarah,” highlighting the alleged royal tension caused by this announcement.

Despite this reported misjudgment, Harry, Meghan, and Eugenie have maintained a close relationship. Harry provided a different perspective on the event in his autobiography, Spare. In the book, he recounts the day they shared their pregnancy news with the royal family during the wedding reception. Harry also shared how they informed Prince William and Kate Middleton. “After the drinks reception in St. George’s Hall, Meg and I pulled Willy aside. We were in a big room, suits of armor on the walls. Strange room, strange moment,” he wrote. Despite the unusual setting, William and Kate’s reactions were positive, with hearty congratulations and big smiles.
