Max George on Writing a ‘Will’ and Surviving a Heart Scare at 36

Max George, the 36-year-old musician known for his role in The Wanted, has opened up about the terrifying health scare that led him to draft a will on his phone while hospitalized for heart problems. The singer, who recently revamped The Wanted as a duo with Siva Kaneswaran, shared the details during an interview with The Sun on January 11.

“That first night I wrote a will, I thought I was going to die,” Max revealed, describing the shocking moment he realized the severity of his condition.

The ordeal began on December 11, after Max had been feeling unwell for several days following a tour. Despite his symptoms, which included lethargy and difficulty getting out of bed, he initially dismissed them as minor. However, things took a frightening turn when he woke up at his mother’s house with blue hands, feeling extremely cold and unable to move his arms.

“I couldn’t move my arms, and the worst feeling was I felt like my throat was closing up. Thank God I stayed at Mom’s house; she saved my life,” Max shared. His mother promptly sought medical help, and doctors diagnosed a serious issue with the lower part of his heart.

The diagnosis led to immediate action, with Max undergoing surgery to have a pacemaker fitted. The singer admitted the news was overwhelming and life-changing. “I was in complete shock. It was really scary, all sorts of thoughts are going on in your head, and certainly not a place I thought I’d be in at 36.”

The Glad You Came singer recounted how surreal and frightening it was to face such a critical health issue at his age. However, he remains grateful for the quick medical intervention and the support of his loved ones.

Max’s story serves as a reminder of the importance of paying attention to unusual health symptoms and seeking help when something feels off. Though the experience was harrowing, the singer is now focusing on his recovery and looking forward to continuing his musical journey with The Wanted.

Max’s candid account has sparked an outpouring of support from fans and serves as a stark reminder that health challenges can come unexpectedly, even for those in the prime of their lives.
