Mango Founder Isak Andic Dies at 71 After Tragic Mountain Fall
0Isak Andic, the visionary founder and non-executive chairman of Mango, tragically passed away on Saturday at the age of 71 following a mountain accident in Collbató, near Barcelona, reported by REUTERS.
According to reports from Spanish media outlet El País, Andic suffered a fatal fall into a ravine near the Salnitre Caves, located in the Montserrat massif, a popular hiking area.
Born in Istanbul in 1953, Andic moved to Barcelona in his youth and went on to transform a small shirt store into Mango, now one of the most globally recognized fashion brands. Under his guidance, the company became a global benchmark in the fashion industry, known for its modern style and international appeal.
Toni Ruiz, CEO of Mango, paid tribute to Andic in an emotional statement: “Isak was an inspiration to all of us. He dedicated his life to Mango, leaving an indelible mark through his strategic vision, inspirational leadership, and unwavering commitment to the values he instilled in our company. His legacy is reflected in the achievements of a business project defined by success, but also by his humanity, warmth, and the care and affection he always conveyed to the entire organization.”
Mango recently celebrated its 40th anniversary, marking extraordinary milestones under Andic’s leadership. The company surpassed 3 billion euros in annual sales and expanded its operations to more than 115 international markets. Its remarkable trajectory earned Mango the prestigious Kingdom of Spain Award earlier this year, recognizing the brand’s contribution to the nation’s economic and social development, as well as its role in inspiring future generations of entrepreneurs.
Beyond his achievements in business, Andic was widely regarded as the wealthiest individual in Catalonia and one of Spain’s leading fortunes. His net worth was estimated at 4.5 billion euros, a figure that grew by 1.8 billion euros in the past year alone, reflecting Mango’s continued success.
Andic’s passing leaves a significant void in the fashion and business worlds. His strategic vision and leadership turned Mango into a powerhouse, but his warmth and humanity will be remembered just as fondly. His legacy lives on in the company he built and the inspiration he offered to countless entrepreneurs worldwide.
