23-Year-Old Charged for Alleged Attempted Murder of Two Female Officers in Essex

In a recent incident in Harlow, Essex, a man has been formally charged with the attempted murder of two female police officers. The incident occurred on Friday, leading to one of the officers sustaining a head injury that required hospitalization.

The charged individual, 23-year-old Declan Diedrick, faces two counts of attempted murder and an additional charge of carrying a knife. The attack on the officers reportedly took place during a welfare check in Hull Grove, Harlow, shortly after 5:45 pm.

While one officer was treated in the hospital and has since been released, the other officer did not need hospitalization. Both officers are currently recovering from the ordeal.

Declan Diedrick was arrested following the incident and is scheduled to appear in Colchester Magistrates’ Court on New Year’s Day.

Chief Superintendent Stuart Hooper has expressed relief that both officers are recuperating and emphasized the force’s commitment to their ongoing welfare and support. He also stated that since the Crown Prosecution Service has authorized the charges against Mr. Diedrick, it would not be appropriate to comment further on the case.
