Man Accused of Stabbing Young Mum 45 Times Told Family ‘Aye It Was Alright’ After Alleged Attack

A man accused of brutally stabbing a young mother to death allegedly returned home and casually told his family his evening was “alright.” Michael Porchetta, 28, is accused of murdering Aimee Cannon, a 26-year-old mother of two, by stabbing her 45 times in the stomach, chest, neck, and head in May 2022. Her lifeless body was found lying on her children’s toys at her home in West Calder, Scotland.

During a hearing at the High Court in Edinburgh, it was revealed that after the alleged attack, Porchetta went to the home of his uncle, Robert Nicoll, and sister, Gabriella. When asked about his night, Porchetta replied, “Aye it was alright,” before heading upstairs to change his clothes and then leaving for work.

Aimee’s father, Vince, discovered her body the next day, according to The Daily Record. Witnesses testified that Porchetta had shown romantic interest in Aimee, which she had rejected. Alistair Wilson told the court, “Aimee told me once that Michael had come on to her but she told him they were just pals.” Another witness, Robert Aitken, corroborated, saying, “Mikey tried it on with her two months before her death.”

John Honeyman recalled an incident when Aimee contacted him, panicked, because Porchetta wouldn’t leave her house. He said, “She seemed anxious, alarmed, and upset.”

Two days after her death, Porchetta spoke to his uncle while he was gardening, appearing upset. Nicoll testified, “Michael came out to see me, he seemed upset. He said to me, ‘The lassie’s been murdered up the street. My pals told me.’ He said he had been up at her house on Friday night, taking drugs, but denied involvement.”

Porchetta’s sister, a nurse, became suspicious when she smelled blood on his jeans. She confronted him, and he claimed he had cut his thumb on a barbed wire fence. He admitted visiting Aimee’s house the night of her death but denied harming her. She urged him to go to the police, where he was charged with her murder and theft of her phone, keys, and underwear.

Porchetta, deemed unfit to stand trial, has also been accused of attempting to pervert the course of justice by disposing of the knife and washing blood off his trainers. The case continues to unfold, shedding light on a shocking and tragic sequence of events.
