This Morning star Maddy Anholt has died aged 35 just one year after welcoming daughter

Maddy Anholt, a beloved comedian known for her dynamic presence in live performances, radio, television, and online comedy, has sadly passed away at the age of 35. She had been diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of brain cancer last year, marking a courageous and challenging journey.

Throughout her career, Anholt graced audiences with her humor and wit. Her memorable Edinburgh Fringe shows included “Maddy’s Many Mouths” in 2013, “Diary of a Dating Addict” in 2015, and “Herselves” in 2017.

In addition to her comedic talents, she displayed her acting prowess in sitcoms like “Sunny D” and “Jerk,” as well as in Radio 4’s “Sketchtopia” and “The Emily Atack Show.” In 2017, she contributed to Radio 4 with the sitcom “No Smoke.”

Anholt ventured into the world of literature with her first book, “How To Leave Your Psychopath,” focusing on unhealthy romantic relationships. Released in early 2022, the book garnered critical acclaim and international attention. Her debut novel, a thrilling venture, is anticipated to be published next year.

Anholt’s creativity extended into the realm of online comedy, where she crafted and shared entertaining sketches like “Valentine’s Day Scam” and, during the lockdown period, “P.E. with Maddy.” In 2020, she co-wrote and starred in “Kelly,” a short film that explored the humorous aspects of caring for her parents’ dog.

In the wake of her passing, Anholt’s family has launched a GoFundMe page. In a heartfelt statement, they expressed their profound sorrow, saying, “It is with profound sorrow that we announce the death of Maddy Anholt, our beloved daughter, sister, twin, friend, wife, and mother, who left this world on Wednesday, September 13th, at the age of 35.”

“You may know that shortly after the birth of her incredible daughter Opal last year, Maddy was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of brain cancer. She handled the ensuing surgery and treatment with astonishing grace and courage, accompanied every step of the way by her family and devoted husband, Ben. She spent her final weeks at her parents’ home, Sunflower House, bathed in love and calm, and with the sounds of nature all around.

“In her short life, Maddy accomplished so much. She was a marathon runner, author, speaker, actor, and ambassador for Women’s Aid. Her debut book was published in 2022 and her first fiction will be published soon. As an actor, she appeared in sitcoms for the BBC, ITV, and Channel 4, while as a speaker she led numerous masterclasses, including for the Guardian.
