Fans of ITV’s a popular morning talk show, Lorraine, have made their voices heard, with many suggesting that host Lorraine Kelly should step down from her self-titled program. Kelly, a Scottish TV presenter, has been at the helm of Lorraine since 2010, speaking with high-profile guests and giving audiences their daily dose of entertainment. Over the last 15 years, the 65-year-old has welcomed A-list celebrities and everyday heroes alike onto her show.
However, recent years have seen Kelly’s presence on the show become less frequent. Viewers have noticed that she is often absent, with presenters such as Ranvir Singh and Christine Lampard stepping in to fill the void. This shift in the host’s availability has led to a noticeable change in the dynamic of the show, and many viewers are questioning whether it’s time for Kelly to pass the baton, as reported by the Express.
To gauge public opinion, Express.co.uk conducted a poll asking whether it was time for Lorraine to step down from her role. The results were overwhelmingly in favor of her stepping down, with 682 readers voting “yes.” In contrast, only 122 readers voted “no,” and 17 readers expressed indecision, choosing “I don’t know.”
In addition to her work on the show, Kelly has also entered a new chapter in her personal life. She recently became a grandmother when her daughter, Rosie, gave birth to her first grandchild, a girl named Billie. The joyful occasion marked a significant milestone in Kelly’s life, especially as she celebrated her 65th birthday this past summer.
When discussing the idea of retiring from her long-standing television career, Kelly shared her thoughts in an interview with Woman’s Own, saying: “I’ve always said if the day comes when I don’t really want to go to work, I will stop.” Reflecting on the year she’s had, Kelly added, “This year has been amazing, but obviously the most wonderful, uplifting thing was the birth of Billie. I would live in the garden, in a hut, just to get cuddles.”
In a separate conversation with The Yorkshire Post, Kelly touched on her career, which spans over four decades in television. She said, “I’d like to keep on doing my show for as long as people want to watch,” adding, “I didn’t expect to still be here (on television) at 65, but I am so happy to be doing the job I love after 40 years.” She went on to thank her loyal team and viewers for their continued support, which has helped her sustain such a long and successful career.
