Lorraine Kelly Shares Emotional Message While Cradling Granddaughter Billie

Lorraine Kelly has described 2024 as an unforgettable year, filled with triumphs, heartbreak, and the unparalleled joy of becoming a grandmother for the first time. The ITV star’s daughter, Rosie, and her partner, Steve Smith, welcomed their baby girl Billie on August 29, a moment Lorraine had been eagerly anticipating.

Sharing her happiness on Instagram, Lorraine posted a heartwarming photo of herself cradling Billie, captioned: “Well, what a year it has been. Feeling very very lucky! Obviously, the most amazing thing was baby Billie coming into the world on August 29th. She’s such an angel, and Rosie and Steve are brilliant parents. Being a granny is just pure joy.”

Lorraine also reflected on her many professional achievements in 2024. The year began with her stint as an “out-of-tune owl” on The Masked Singer. In February, her debut novel, The Island Swimmer, reached number two on the Sunday Times Best Seller List, reported by the Express.

The accolades didn’t stop there. “I was honored to be given a special BAFTA award for being on breakfast for 40 years,” she shared proudly. Her portrait, painted by Sky Arts Portrait Artist of the Year Brogan Bertie, now hangs in the Scottish Portrait Gallery.

Among her proudest moments was officiating the blessing of two longtime viewers of her show, Luke and Gavin, to celebrate their decade-long gay marriage. Lorraine was also thrilled to release a charity single, Love Is All Around, performed by Marti Pellow and her Change and Check choir. The song reached number one, with a surreal performance at the Royal Variety Show capping off the achievement.

An ITV documentary chronicling her life added another highlight. Lorraine expressed excitement at the prospect of sharing her story with her granddaughter Billie in the future. “It’s a way for her to understand my journey when she’s older,” she said.

Amidst her triumphs, Lorraine faced personal losses, with the deaths of her brother-in-law Gordon and her uncles Billy and Neil. Yet, she found comfort in her mother’s resilience. “She continues to defy the odds and carry on. Being a great-grandmother has given her a new lease of life,” Lorraine remarked.

As 2025 approaches, Lorraine looks forward to new adventures. “This is all down to me having the best team on TV! I’m so lucky to work with them, and we are all looking forward to 2025 – so many exciting plans.”
