Loose Women Panelist Janet Street-Porter Denies Strictly Come Dancing Rumors

A Loose Women panelist refuted rumors about appearing on Strictly Come Dancing in a statement yesterday. While filling in for Kaye Adams, Sunetra Sarker addressed the speculation that one of her co-stars might be joining the BBC competition.

Turning to Janet Street-Porter, 77, Sunetra exclaimed, “Some really exciting news! Janet is joining Strictly. Or is she? Tell us the truth.” The journalist, clearly unamused by the speculation, simply responded, “No.”

She elaborated, “I was on my way to the hospital this morning to have a painkiller injection in my hip because I’ve just been told I have to have a hip replacement. And what bubbles up on my phone but Ruth Langsford going, ‘I’m so excited! I’ve just heard you’re doing Strictly! I’m so excited, it’s made my day!’ And I just went back, ‘Sorry. Not true.'”

The crowd in the ITV studios burst into laughter at Janet’s incredulity that anyone could believe she might be in fit shape for Strictly. She finished her rant by joking, “Unless there’s a competition called Strictly Arm Dancing!”

Sunetra herself participated in Strictly Come Dancing in 2014 alongside pro dancer Brendan Cole. She has admitted to feeling ‘vulnerable’ on the show, saying she still struggles not to panic when she hears the opening music for her dance number.

So far, The Sun has revealed eight celebrities who are allegedly set to compete for the Glitterball trophy. One of them is former Coronation Street star Helen Worth, who quit her role as Gail Platt last month.
