Linda Nolan’s Stepson Dies of Cancer Just Months After Her Death
It’s hard to imagine a family enduring more heartbreak than the Nolans have in the past year. Just four months after Linda Nolan’s death, her beloved stepson Lloyd has sadly passed away too, following his gruelling battle with cancer. It’s the kind of back-to-back tragedy that feels almost too cruel to be real.
Linda and Lloyd weren’t just family – they were cancer warriors, fighting their separate battles side by side. While Linda was undergoing immunotherapy for her secondary breast cancer, which had spread to her brain, Lloyd was facing down throat cancer, diagnosed in September 2023. The tumour was so dangerously close to his vocal cords that surgery was off the table, so he began intensive radiotherapy instead. Throughout it all, Linda was right there with him, offering strength, love, and a bit of dark humour about the meds and side effects they shared.
“They were fighting side by side,” said a family friend. “Linda would finish her treatment and text him to check in… She really thought he’d outlive her. She needed that belief”, reported the Daily Mail.
Just weeks into Lloyd’s treatment, he was rushed to the hospital with a serious bleed caused by ulcers around the tumour. Things looked bleak—but then, a glimmer of hope. By April 2024, scans showed the cancer had cleared. Linda was overjoyed, clinging to the belief that while her time might be short, Lloyd would make it through.
But then the bottom fell out. Lloyd’s cancer had spread to his lungs. It was incurable. And not long after, Linda’s brain tumours had started growing again. She was trying a new chemotherapy drug, Enhertu, but her focus was all on Lloyd. “He was her light,” said one close friend. “She could deal with her own diagnosis, but not his.”
As the months passed, Lloyd’s condition worsened. By August, the cancer had reached his brain, mouth, and liver. Still, he never gave up. Friends say he stayed brave and selfless right to the end, never asking for pity, just fighting to the last. “He was brave, selfless and dignified,” said a friend. “But this disease is cruel.”
Their bond ran deep. Lloyd was the son of Linda’s late husband, Brian Hudson, who died of cancer in 2007. Linda had always treated Lloyd as her own, and their connection only strengthened over time. “If Linda were here,” said one friend, “she’d be screaming that this isn’t fair.”
Linda’s funeral in February was a celebration of a life lived fully and fiercely, with famous faces joining her family to say goodbye. Now, they’re mourning again. “It’s like wave after wave,” said another. “The Nolans have been through so much – and now this.”
