King Charles was unhappy with Prince Harry for relying on ‘dangerous’ gossip

King Charles is reportedly hesitant to welcome Prince Harry back into the royal fold, according to a royal expert. This reluctance stems from the controversial and explosive comments Harry has made about royal life since stepping back from his royal duties.

In 2020, Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle decided to step back from their roles within the Royal Family, a move that has since sparked considerable tension. Harry’s subsequent revelations and criticisms of royal life have reportedly caused significant upset within the family.

Rumors suggest that Harry is keen on reconciliation and mending the rift with his father and brother. However, a royal expert has highlighted that Harry must reflect on the repercussions of his actions before expecting to be welcomed back, especially by King Charles.

Photographer Arthur Edwards MBE told The Sun: “I think he is the prodigal son, in my view, and he’s got to think about what he’s doing and think what damage he’s done.” The damage refers to Harry’s comments in his Netflix series as well as in his 2023 autobiography ‘Spare’. In his memoir, the Duke of Sussex branded Queen Camilla “dangerous” and accused her of sacrificing him on her own “personal PR altar”.

Edwards added: “I imagine the King’s unhappy with Harry being around people where he could learn stories and hear gossip and put it in his next book or his next podcast or next radio or TV interview and it looks like he’s well-informed.”

He added that Charles was hurt by Harry’s words about Camilla in his memoir, and that he ‘couldn’t easily forgive’ Harry for it. He continued: “I imagine the King had strong words with him over it.”

Speaking exclusively to The Mirror, royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams said: “After the Oprah interview, the Harry and Meghan Netflix documentary, and the publication of Harry’s memoir Spare, as well as the interviews he gave promoting it, the popularity of the royal family suffered and the Sussexes were considered to have gone rogue. The biggest casualty was trust. It is unsurprising that King Charles and Prince William no longer trust Harry and Meghan.”

A spokesperson said in a statement at the time, that the King was “busy” with a “full programme”. They added: “The duke of course is understanding of his father’s diary of commitments and various other priorities and hopes to see him soon.”

During a recent visit to the UK in early May to mark 10 years of the Invictus Games, Harry allegedly requested a meeting with his father. However, due to King Charles’ busy schedule, the meeting did not take place. A spokesperson at the time stated that the King had a “full program” and was “busy” with commitments. They added, “The duke of course is understanding of his father’s diary of commitments and various other priorities and hopes to see him soon.”

The expert stressed that while Harry may wish to bridge the gap with his family, the path to reconciliation is fraught with complexities, particularly given the public nature of his criticisms. The royal family’s trust in Harry may have been deeply affected, making any potential reunion challenging.

This situation underscores the broader challenges within the royal family and highlights the ongoing struggles between maintaining personal relationships and managing public perceptions. As Harry continues to navigate his new life outside the traditional royal structure, the prospect of reconciliation with King Charles and other family members remains uncertain.
