Why King Charles did not meet Prince Harry during his latest UK visit?

Prince Harry returned to the United Kingdom this week for a court hearing, but a long-awaited reunion with his father, King Charles III, did not take place—despite their overlapping travel schedules.

As the Duke of Sussex arrived in London on Tuesday to attend legal proceedings regarding the government’s decision to downgrade his personal security, King Charles was on a state visit to Italy. The timing sparked speculation that a father-son meeting might occur. However, royal experts have confirmed that no such reunion happened.

“I can confirm they did not see each other,” royal commentator Kinsey Schofield told Fox News Digital. “My palace source said it was never a realistic option,” Schofield suggested that tensions and trust issues remain a major barrier between Harry and his father. “I understand the king and courtiers’ hesitation at any association with Prince Harry,” she explained.

“Harry could use something his father says in a private moment against him in court. The royal family simply cannot trust him today.” Prince Harry’s visit to the UK was focused on his ongoing legal battle with the Home Office. He is appealing a 2020 decision that stripped him of automatic police protection when visiting the country, a move he claims puts him and his family at risk.

Royal analyst Richard Fitzwilliams also weighed in, describing the absence of a meeting as a reflection of ongoing familial strain. “They could have arranged to meet, but there is too much tension between them,” he told the publication. “It’s sad, it’s public, and it presages trouble in the future, especially if Harry wins his appeal.”

The case marks yet another flashpoint in the strained relationship between Prince Harry and the royal establishment, which has remained frosty since his and Meghan Markle’s high-profile departure from royal duties in 2020. The couple, now based in California, has frequently spoken out about their experiences within the royal family, often to the discomfort of Buckingham Palace.

Adding to the tension, Radar Online reported this week that the rift between King Charles and his youngest son is “widening,” despite moments in the past year where reconciliation appeared possible.

As Prince Harry continues to pursue legal action to secure security measures for his UK visits, experts warn that the fallout could further complicate already fragile family ties—particularly if he succeeds in his appeal. With no meeting, no progress, and no reconciliation in sight, the royal family feud appears as unresolved as ever.
