Kerry Katona Breaks Silence on Michelle Keegan’s Exciting Baby News
Kerry Katona has shared her heartfelt congratulations to Michelle Keegan and Mark Wright following the announcement that they are expecting their first child. The couple, married since 2015, revealed the exciting news on December 29 in a sweet Instagram post, saying, “2025 is going to be a special one for us…”
Former Atomic Kitten star Kerry, 44, was one of many well-wishers and expressed her happiness for the couple in her weekly column. She wrote: “I want to say a massive congratulations to Mark Wright and Michelle Keegan, who are expecting their first baby this year. I’m so happy for them – they seem like a lovely couple. I’ve met Mark a few times, but we don’t know each other properly.”
Before making the announcement, Mark and Michelle had remained tight-lipped about their plans for children, with Michelle previously revealing her frustration at being asked about it in interviews. Kerry also shared her thoughts on the pressure women face regarding their family plans, stating: “Many people have been asking them about having kids over the years, but I don’t think it’s anyone else’s business if or when people choose to have children, told OK! Magazine.
It’s about what’s right for them – and if that’s now, then great. I think as a society we put too much pressure on people.” Michelle, in a 2019 interview, explained that while she wasn’t “getting any younger,” it wasn’t the right time to start a family, adding: “Not yet. Everyone always asks that question. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not getting any younger. My mum is on it as well. No plans yet, but we definitely do want children in the future.”
The actress has spoken before about the pressure of being asked such personal questions, telling The Mirror: “It’s horrible. People don’t know if we’re trying. They don’t know the background of what’s happening. In this day and age, you shouldn’t be asking questions like that. I’m asked purely because I’m a woman. I’m immune to it now – it’s like a reaction, and as soon as I hear it I brush it off as it’s no one else’s business.”
A friend of the couple revealed that Michelle and Mark had kept the pregnancy private for some time, enjoying the special moment together before sharing the news. “Starting a family has been something they have wanted to do for a long time,” said the insider. They added that Mark and Michelle’s “immediate family have known for a while,” and that their family home in Essex was all set, making the timing perfect for this new chapter.
