Inside Emmerdale Star Kelvin Fletcher’s Marriage from Jealousy Drama to Rural Farm Bliss
0Kelvin Fletcher, best known for his role as Andy Sugden in Emmerdale, has traded the glitz of TV drama for the quiet charm of rural life. The 39-year-old actor and his wife, Liz Marsland, have embraced a completely new lifestyle as sheep farmers on a 120-acre property near the Peak District. Their adventure, complete with 100 sheep, 30 pigs, 10 horses, six chickens, a cat, and a dog named Ginger—not to mention their four children under the age of seven—will soon be showcased in their new series, Fletcher’s Family Farm.
The couple describes their transition from city life to farming as a “rollercoaster ride”, according to the Daily Record. Kelvin and Liz, who first met at just eight years old and became a couple in 2009, have been married for 14 years. Reflecting on their bond, Kelvin said Hello! Magazine, “I knew I wanted to marry Liz the day I met her. Deep down I knew she was ‘the one.'”
However, their journey has not been without challenges. In the early years of their relationship, Kelvin’s on-screen romances and adoring fans put a strain on their relationship. In 2010, the couple briefly split after Liz struggled with the attention Kelvin received from fans, including racy messages and images. “Liz has always been jealous of the attention Kelvin receives. It has worn her down over the years,” a friend told The Sun at the time.
Despite this rocky period, the pair reconciled and found ways to navigate the difficulties posed by Kelvin’s acting career. “I do ring her up and say, ‘I’m kissing so-and-so today’ and make a joke about it,” Kelvin shared with The Sun. He admitted Liz still avoids watching his shows because of her discomfort with his on-screen romances. “To me, though, it’s just work,” he added.
Now, the couple has left those tensions behind, focusing on their new chapter as farmers and parents. Their upcoming show promises to give fans an intimate look at their lives, balancing the demands of raising four children and managing a bustling farm. “Navigating farming life with four small kids is certainly a challenge but one full of laughter and unforgettable memories,” Kelvin and Liz said.
With their rural retreat and shared commitment, Kelvin and Liz have found a lifestyle that brings both adventure and tranquility to their family’s story.
