Loose Women’s Kaye Adams Breaks Down Over Daughter Moving Out and Big Life Changes Ahead

Kaye Adams has shared how emotional it’s been adjusting to life after her daughter left home — and how it’s made her question what comes next, both as a mum and in her personal life.

Speaking on Loose Women: The Podcast, the 62-year-old presenter opened up to co-host Nadia Sawalha about how much she struggled when her eldest daughter, Charley, moved away. Kaye’s been with her partner Ian Campbell, a tennis coach, since 1995, and they share two daughters — Charley, now 23, and Bonnie, 18, reported Devon Live.

Kaye explained that while Charley is now living in another city and working, Bonnie is in her first year of university and will soon be returning home. But the real shift came when she dropped Charley off at uni for the first time. Nadia remembered the moment, saying Kaye “sobbed” and was “a mess,” which Kaye confirmed: “It’s just the end of an era”, reports Edinburgh Live.

She admitted it wasn’t quite as bad as she feared, but it hit her hard. “You invest so much in them, don’t you? And then they’re just gone and the relationship has changed fundamentally,” she said.

For Kaye, this new chapter feels like a turning point in how she sees herself as a mum. “It’s a real signal to you that that part of your life as a hands-on, active mother is probably finished and you’re becoming a different kind of mother.”

And now that the kids are moving on, Kaye and Ian are thinking about their next steps too — including the idea of spending part of the year in Spain. On her How To Be 60 podcast, she revealed Ian’s keen to spend two months a year abroad, but she’s not entirely sold.

“I’m still questioning that thing I said the other week that Ian wants to spend two months a year in Spain,” she admitted. Her co-host, Karen Mackenzie, was baffled by the hesitation: “Have you thought about what’s behind this reluctance? Do you think once you’re off the telly here, that’s it, they’ll forget about you?”

Kaye didn’t have a clear answer, simply saying, “I don’t know.” But she did admit that the grey British weather is wearing her down: “I look at the rain battering the window in August and September and I think, why?”

She described herself as a “slow burner” when it comes to big decisions but hinted she could eventually come around. She’s even toying with the idea of hosting her radio show from Spain — sunshine and staying on air? Could be a win-win.
