Bankrupt Katie Price Hit with Six-Figure Car Insurance Quote After Controversial Driving Offences

Katie Price, the 46-year-old reality TV personality, has opened up about the astronomical costs of her car insurance following a history of driving bans and legal troubles. Speaking on Rob Moore’s Disruptors podcast, Katie disclosed that no insurance company is willing to cover her without demanding exorbitant premiums. “No insurance company will insure me, they want £150,000 down, and £8,000 a month,” Katie admitted, highlighting the financial repercussions of her repeated road offenses.

The I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! star’s driving record includes multiple bans, most notably a two-year disqualification following a drink-driving incident in September 2021, where she crashed her BMW while disqualified and uninsured. Despite her lengthy history of motoring violations, Katie has managed to qualify for rental cars, although at a steep price, as reported by the Mirror.

In a TikTok live session last year, Katie detailed her struggles with insurance companies. “The quotes I had for my insurance on a normal car that is £15k were £73k, £53k, and £33k,” she revealed. She accused insurers of “discrimination,” claiming her celebrity status inflated the costs. “If someone else had the same as me and they had a normal job, they wouldn’t charge that much,” Katie added.

To reduce her fees, Katie reportedly changed her listed occupation to “author,” which brought her insurance down to £14,000 annually. “I shouldn’t have done what I did, so you have to pay the price,” she admitted, expressing hope that she could afford a better car in a year’s time.

Katie’s troubles continued into 2024 when she was fined £880 for driving without a valid license or insurance after being caught on CCTV at a petrol station. Although she denied the charges, she was found guilty in her absence, with the court imposing a fine, costs, and a victim surcharge.

Prosecutors revealed that Katie’s license had been flagged with a “medical stop” after an application for renewal was withdrawn, rendering her unable to legally drive. Despite this, CCTV footage showed her stepping out of the driver’s side of her vehicle.

Magistrates, who noted Katie’s extensive history of driving offenses, imposed eight penalty points on her expired license. Katie remains under financial strain, with a High Court ruling mandating that nearly half of her OnlyFans income be used to pay off debts stemming from her 2019 bankruptcy.
