GMB’s Kate Garraway Receives Outpouring Support After Devastating Storm Hits Her Home

Good Morning Britain presenter Kate Garraway has been receiving an outpouring of support from fans after sharing the impact of Storm Eowyn on her home garden. The severe weather event brought strong winds and flooding to numerous regions across the country, causing significant damage to Kate’s outdoor space.

In a heartfelt Instagram video, Kate documented the aftermath of the storm, revealing fallen branches, a damaged tree, and a compromised fence. The mum-of-two described the day as a “heck of a day” as she tackled the extensive cleanup required to restore her garden. Her efforts included removing debris and repairing the broken fence, which she managed using materials she had salvaged from elsewhere.

Kate captioned her post with a mix of frustration and resilience: “Had a heck of a day trying to sort out storm damage I know it’s nothing compared to what many are facing so not complaining. Lost a tree-height pyracantha (shrub) which had glorious orange berries in autumn and dainty white flowers in spring, according to Lancs Live.

Still needs more chainsaw action but am hoping life will spring back at the roots. Very proud of my fence mend though (on the left) using old fencing from elsewhere. Something satisfying about being out in the fresh air though (even if it was grey and raining) and now ready for a hot bath and bed. Hope everyone has had a great Sunday.”

The post quickly garnered attention, amassing over 8,300 likes and 150 supportive comments. Fans praised her for her positive attitude and efforts to rebuild. One follower commented, “As long as you are all safe, great job with the fence.” Another added, “Wow very scary – glad you are all OK.” A third admirer wrote, “I’m pleased that you and your family are safe! It’s a pity about the tree, but you did a great job, Kate! Have a well-deserved rest now!”

Further encouraging messages included, “Well done Kate, looking on the bright side of a minor disaster, love your positivity,” and “Hopefully it will recover. Bet you are shattered. Enjoy your soak.”

Storm Eowyn has not only affected Kate but also caused widespread disruption across England and Wales. The storm has led to multiple yellow warnings for wind and rain, with over 40 flood warnings in place. Following a Met Office advisory for rain in parts of Wales and central, southern, and northern England, the region has been under a 24-hour warning for strong and gusty winds since early Monday morning, leaving little respite from the harsh weather conditions.

Kate, 57, is no stranger to overcoming personal challenges. She has won multiple National Television Awards for her documentaries, including the poignant “Kate Garraway: Derek’s Story,” which chronicles the final year of her husband Derek Draper’s life. Derek, from Chorley, suffered long-lasting symptoms from coronavirus and passed away at the age of 56 in January last year. The documentary highlighted Kate’s emotional journey and her unwavering strength through difficult times.

Living in Cornwall with her daughter Winnie since her split from TV chef Phil Vickery in 2020, Kate has shown remarkable resilience both personally and professionally. Her recent experience with Storm Eowyn adds another chapter to her story of perseverance, demonstrating her ability to maintain a positive outlook even in the face of adversity.

As Kate continues to rebuild her garden and recover from the storm’s impact, her fans remain supportive, appreciating her transparency and strength. Her story serves as an inspiration to many, showcasing the importance of community and resilience during challenging times.
