Princess Kate Prioritizes King Charles’ Health Over Her Own Amid Their Concurrent Cancer Battles

Despite her own cancer diagnosis, Princess Kate Middleton’s primary concern lies with her father-in-law, King Charles III, who is also facing a serious health battle with cancer. Sources close to the royal family have shared that Kate is especially worried about the impact of Charles’ illness on her husband, Prince William, fearing he might lose another parent to the disease.

“Kate is also—even while sick herself—more concerned about Charles. She doesn’t want her husband to lose another parent,” an insider disclosed to In Touch. Kate, 42, who is currently undergoing preventative chemotherapy, is deeply focused on Charles’ health and his journey toward recovery.

The two royals have reportedly found comfort in each other’s company during this challenging time. Having been a part of Charles’ life for two decades, Kate shares a deep bond with him, which has only been strengthened by their shared health struggles. “They can sit on the couch together in their pajamas,” the insider added, highlighting the intimate family support within the palace walls.

The royal family faced a tumultuous start to 2024 with the revelation of dual cancer diagnoses. In January, Buckingham Palace announced that Kate had undergone “planned” abdominal surgery. Initially, the nature of her health issues sparked widespread speculation among the public. It wasn’t until March that Kate confirmed her cancer diagnosis in a heartfelt video, explaining her treatment plan and reassuring the public and her children of her recovery.

Shortly after, in February, the palace revealed that 75-year-old King Charles was diagnosed with cancer, though specific details regarding the type of cancer were not immediately shared. Later reports from In Touch suggested that Charles is battling pancreatic cancer and may have a limited prognosis. “King Charles is much sicker than the palace lets on,” a source claimed, describing the severity of his condition as life-threatening and noting his physical frailty.

Despite these health challenges, King Charles made a public appearance at Windsor on Easter Sunday, attending church services at St. George’s Chapel alongside Queen Camilla, signaling a measure of resilience amid his treatment.

Royal biographer Sally Bedell Smith commented on the unique relationship between Kate and Charles during this period, noting, “He has always had a very good bond with her. I don’t think it is presumptuous to say that she is like the daughter he never had.” She further elaborated on the united front within the royal family, saying, “They are in this together, Kate and the King,” underscoring their mutual support and the familial bonds that have deepened in the face of adversity.
