Will Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle ever reconcile?

A royal biographer has reflected on the relationship between Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton as the Princess of Wales faces reported health challenges.

The Duchess of Sussex and Prince Harry publicly expressed their support for Kate following the announcement of her cancer diagnosis, but the two have not reunited publicly since 2022.

Royal expert Katie Nicholl weighed in on the situation in an interview with Radar Online suggesting that past tensions have added complexity to their relationship. “Kate’s been thrown under the bus by Harry. He’s said hurtful things about her, he’s brought the children into the narrative. I think the Prince of Wales remains very, very angry and upset and feels very betrayed,” Nicholl said.

However, Nicholl also expressed hope that Kate’s health might serve as a catalyst for reconciliation between the royal wives. “It’s far too short for rifts and family feuds. And perhaps that will be a role that she will play at some point in healing that rift because I think we look to the royal family as a symbol of unity,” she explained.

Former royal butler Grant Harrold shared similar sentiments, suggesting that the holiday season could present an opportunity for outreach. “I believe that Catherine will reach out to Harry and Meghan and wish them a Happy Christmas, and I think Harry and Meghan themselves will possibly reach out,” Harrold said.

The relationship between the Sussexes and the royal family has been under strain since Harry and Meghan stepped back from their roles as senior royals in 2020. Public revelations in Harry’s memoir and media appearances have only deepened the divide.

Despite these tensions, Kate’s health struggles may provide an opening for both families to bridge the gap. Nicholl emphasized the importance of unity, saying, “The royal family has always been seen as a symbol of unity,” and reconciliation would reflect the significance of familial bonds during challenging times.

As the holidays approach, the potential for outreach has sparked speculation about whether the Sussexes and Waleses will take steps toward mending their fractured relationship, offering hope to those following the royal family’s journey.
