Kate Garraway Hijacks GMB Interview with Hilarious Tangent on ‘Lizard Brain’ During Babatunde Aleshe Chat

Thursday’s Good Morning Britain episode took an unexpected turn when ITV presenter Kate Garraway, 57, got a little carried away during an interview with Babatunde Aleshe, a former I’m A Celeb contestant, reported by the Express. Alongside her co-host Richard Madeley, 68, Kate was eager to hear Babatunde’s thoughts on the latest series of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! and his own experiences in the 2022 season.

As Babatunde discussed his time on the show, including why he chose not to take on the nerve-wracking “Walk The Plank” challenge, Kate quickly jumped in to reminisce about her own I’m A Celeb experience. She recounted her own fear during the opening task in 2019, noting she pushed through despite her “basic fear of heights.”

However, her commentary quickly shifted into an explanation of the “lizard brain” — a part of the brain that controls basic survival functions. “I’ve done a lot of research into brains for various reasons over the past four years,” Kate shared, hinting at her dedication to studying neurological functions since her husband Derek Draper’s illness. She continued, “The lizard brain is your hardwired fear response.”

Her enthusiastic tangent, however, didn’t go unnoticed by the show’s producers. After getting a subtle reminder through her earpiece, Kate acknowledged the feedback with a laugh, saying, “They just told me to let you talk. It’s a fair point” — you are the guest”, according to the Mirror.

Viewers took to social media to comment on the lively interview, with one user on X remarking, “How many times is Kate going to cut straight over Richard during this interview? How rude!” Another added, “I thought this was about Babatunde.” A third amused fan chimed in, “Currently she is attempting to explain the term lizard brain and flailing badly.”

Trying to get back on track, Richard shifted the conversation to the new season, asking Babatunde for his pick to win. Babatunde replied with hesitation, noting, “Ohh, I don’t know; it’s not even really started yet.” He admitted he’s rooting for his friend Melvin, saying, “Melvin’s a great guy. I’ve known Melvin for ages. I think he is going to light up the place with his personality.” He also acknowledged the unpredictability of the jungle environment: “When you’re hungry, you might say the wrong thing.”

With Kate’s spontaneous detour into neuroscience and Babatunde’s warm predictions, the interview left fans entertained, proving that Good Morning Britain always has a few surprises in store.
