“F**K IT CANDIDATE?” Jon Stewart says calls for him to run for office are a sign of desperation
Jon Stewart believes it’s nice that people want him and other late-night shows to run for government, but he also thinks it’s a symptom of “desperation.” The host of the “Daily Show” says that the idea itself indicates how unhappy the populace is.
Stewart was slammed with the proposal again this week when it was shown on the current edition of Comedy Central’s “After the Cut” for the late-night programme. The crowd cheered loudly at the concept, which Stewart said was “very kind.” He also quickly pointed out that anybody who wants that is insane.
He stated, “I can’t tell you how crazy it is that people would even think that having power over their lives is something they would like you to have.”
Stewart took a swipe at what could really be behind the question and said that he’s not the first late-night presenter to get asked it. Others, including Stephen Colbert, have also gone through this.
Stewart added, “This is a question that comes up a lot, and I think it speaks to this desperation and dissatisfaction that we have with the status quo.” “And then you see someone on TV who says some things that you agree with, and you think, ‘Well, f–k it!'” It truly is. The next phrase following “F–k it” is “I think you should be president.”
Stewart joked that it seems more like a curse being placed upon him, recommending he run things, but also stated that he understood the emotion that’s creating it.

He joked about how people are being advised to disregard their “lying eyes” by saying, “I think we all feel helpless.” Stewart did give the fans some optimism, however.
He added, “The one thing I will say is that the institutions may be wanting and failing, but the people aren’t.” People keep saying, “Oh, this guy’s Hitler.” No, he isn’t. And I’ll tell you why he isn’t: Hitler was well-liked. This man isn’t.
