British Influencer Arrested for Allegedly Trying to Kill Husband with Poisoned Wine Plot
Share0A British influencer with nearly 400,000 Instagram followers has been arrested in Majorca on suspicion of trying to kill her husband by allegedly drugging his wine.
Amanda Jeffrey, 45, was detained by police on Wednesday following claims made by her businessman husband, Victor, that she poisoned him earlier this year. Spanish media published images showing Ms. Jeffrey in handcuffs as she was escorted into a Palma courthouse by two police officers.
The arrest comes just months after she publicly celebrated their wedding anniversary on social media, posting a photograph of herself in a white dress holding her husband’s hand alongside the caption: “6 years married and still standing and still loving. Still us. Through sickness and in health…Always. Forever. Us.”
According to Victor’s statement tothe police, he was admitted to the hospital for three days after falling seriously ill in January. Medical tests later revealed that he had tranquilisers in his system.
Recounting the incident to officers, Victor said: “She filled two wine glasses and told me: ‘Drink from this one, my glass, it has more.” After tasting the wine, he reportedly complained that it tasted unpleasant. However, Spanish outlet Ultima Hora reported that he alleged Ms. Jeffrey insisted he finish the drink.

Victor later fell into a deep sleep and was taken to the hospital, where doctors determined he had ingested a significant quantity of two different sedative drugs. When questioned by medical staff, he denied taking any medication voluntarily.
Following his release from the hospital, Victor went to a police station on January 10 and accused his wife of poisoning him. He also told investigators that although he had written a will naming his brother as executor, Ms Jeffrey had allegedly been pressuring him to take out life insurance policies.
The case was handled by the police’s Family and Women’s Unit. After her arrest, Ms Jeffrey appeared before a court in Palma on Thursday evening. A judge released her under investigation and imposed a restraining order.
In Spain, such orders typically prevent the accused from approaching within 200 to 500 metres of the alleged victim and from making contact. Ms Jeffrey has not made any public statement regarding the allegations.
She is a Spanish national with a British parent and is known locally as an English teacher and author. Over the years, she has appeared regularly on Spanish talk shows and built a substantial following online by sharing English language teaching content.
In 2014, she produced a documentary titled Mallorca No Es Magaluf, which explored the island’s culture beyond its party tourism image. She has also written columns for the Majorca Daily Bulletin. Police investigations are ongoing. The couple, who live in Palma, share a young son.
