Helen Skelton and Gethin Jones Set Rumor Mill Spinning After Spa Sighting
Helen Skelton and Gethin Jones have certainly set tongues wagging after being spotted looking very cosy during a steamy spa escape together. The pair, who’ve worked alongside each other on Morning Live, seem to have taken their long-standing friendship to a whole new level, and it’s safe to say they’re no longer being subtle about it.
According to The Sun, Gethin whisked Helen away to a country house spa close to where he lives, and the two were seen acting more like a couple than just mates. Onlookers at the venue were surprised by how openly flirty and affectionate they were with each other.
“Gethin and Helen were all over each other. They are super comfortable with each other, and it wasn’t just like two friends hanging out,” a source told The Sun. “Helen was laughing and smiling as they spent time together before heading off in the late afternoon.”
They’ve known each other for years and have often appeared together on the BBC’s Morning Live, where their easy chemistry is hard to miss. While their relationship had always seemed friendly and professional, it looks like something more has been brewing behind the scenes recently.
Helen spoke about her close friendships on Morning Live not too long ago, and included Gethin in that circle. In an interview with HELLO!, she said: “Michelle [Ackerley] and Gethin [Jones] and I have all been friends for years and years. Gethin and I crossed over a lot at Blue Peter, so we’ve got a lot of the same reference points. Michelle and I used to flat share back in London, so people say, ‘You’ve got a natural chemistry’, but we have known each other since we were in our twenties, starting in telly. If you have to go to work and you like what you do and you do it with people that are like an extension of your family, then you’re very lucky and I feel like that at Morning Live.”
But while she’s playing it cool publicly, their recent outing has added fuel to the rumours that the pair are now more than just close co-workers. They’ve been seen at plenty of events over the years, but the vibe seems to have shifted recently. “It was very clear that Helen and Gethin were together as a couple at the event. They were with close friends of Helen’s, and their connection was undeniable,” another source revealed.
Earlier this year, Helen shared a heartfelt post about Gethin following their Comic Relief challenge, which had fans reading between the lines. She wrote: “I don’t publicly say often enough how much love and respect I have for you, my friend, because I assume it is well known. But for the record, you’re a legend and I am beyond grateful to have you by my side on the rink, the sofa, and beyond. I can gush… he doesn’t read beyond one paragraph on an insta post.”
Whether or not she wants to confirm it publicly just yet, the signs all point to Helen and Gethin enjoying more than just a working relationship these days.
