Prince Harry’s Surprise U-Turn on Charles and Camilla’s Marriage Revealed

Despite what Prince Harry wrote in his tell-all memoir, a royal insider now says he was anything but upset when King Charles married Camilla back in 2005. In fact, the Duke of Sussex apparently looked “happy and excited” on the big day — a sharp contrast to his claim that he and Prince William begged their father not to go through with the wedding.

In Spare, Harry recalled how both he and William had urged their dad not to remarry, but according to a source who spoke to the Mail, that’s not quite how it played out, according to GB News.

“My abiding memory about the wedding was how happy and excited Harry seemed,” the insider said. “He and William came up with the idea of decorating their father’s Aston Martin as a send-off. He seemed pretty bought in.” They added: “I am sure there were mixed emotions over the years, but all I can tell you is how he seemed at the time. And he was happy for his father.”

This all comes as Harry is preparing for a possible return to the UK next week — one that could awkwardly overlap with a big milestone for his dad and stepmother. On 9 April, King Charles and Queen Camilla will celebrate their 20th wedding anniversary. The royal couple are due to mark the day while on their tour of Italy.

At the same time, Harry will be facing off with the Home Office in a legal appeal at the Court of Appeal in London. The hearing is scheduled to run over two days, on Tuesday 8 and Wednesday 9 April — directly clashing with the King’s anniversary celebrations.

Harry’s court case is centred around the level of security he receives when he’s in the UK. Back in 2020, the Executive Committee for the Protection of Royalty and Public Figures (Ravec) decided he would no longer be entitled to the same level of protection he had when he was a full-time working royal.

That decision hasn’t sat well with the Duke. He’s already taken the matter to court, but earlier this year, retired High Court judge Sir Peter Lane ruled against him. Now, Harry is challenging that decision in next week’s appeal.

The hearing will mostly be held in public, thanks to a recent Court of Appeal order. Only the most sensitive parts of the case will be heard in private.

It’s another chapter in what’s been a tense few years for the Duke — with ongoing legal battles, strained family ties, and now, conflicting accounts about his feelings toward his father’s marriage. Whether or not he’ll be in the same country as his dad on the royal anniversary remains to be seen, but it’s safe to say the timing isn’t ideal.
