Prince Harry’s Dream of a Part-Time Royal Role “Off the Table” Amid Ongoing Rift with Prince William

Prince Harry’s hopes of working part-time as a royal—a scenario he once envisioned as ideal—appear to be increasingly unlikely amid ongoing tensions with his brother, Prince William. According to GB News’ Royal Editor, Svar Nanan-Sen, the possibility of Harry securing such a role under King Charles is slim, and it’s “not ever going to happen” when William eventually ascends to the throne.

Speaking on The Royal Record podcast alongside GB News‘ Royal Correspondent, Cameron Walker, Nanan-Sen explained that Harry initially aimed to establish a part-time royal role before ultimately stepping away from the monarchy with Meghan Markle. “There’s still a part of him that would want that and maybe still hopes for that,” Nanan-Sen said. “But with his relationship with William, I don’t think that’s ever going to happen. It seems to be completely off the table.”

Walker added that there is a “lot of nostalgia” for Harry when it comes to his connection with the Royal Family, especially regarding the loss of his military titles, which was particularly painful for him. “What really hurt him was losing his military titles when the late Queen took those away,” Walker noted.

The podcast also touched on the broader implications of Harry and Meghan’s departure from royal duties in 2020, including the public criticisms they have leveled against the Royal Family. The rift between Harry and William has deepened, especially after the Sussexes made allegations against William and Princess Kate.

Despite the ongoing legal battles and tensions, it is believed that those closest to Harry, including Meghan, have urged him to focus on the future rather than dwelling on past grievances. “Meghan and others really want Harry to start looking forward now, rather than looking back on his past and being bitter about it,” Walker said. “Rather than constantly looking back and getting angry with various legal lawsuits… Meghan wants him to look forward. So, will Harry be persuaded by that advice?”

As the Sussexes continue to navigate their post-royal lives, the prospect of Harry returning to a part-time royal role appears increasingly unlikely, particularly with the strained relationship between the brothers and the changing dynamics within the Royal Family.
