Royal Expert Warns: Harry & Meghan’s Netflix Career ‘Doomed to Fail’ After His ‘Bad-Mouthing’ of Royals

Prince Harry has been cautioned about potential pitfalls in his latest Netflix ventures, as royal commentator Phil Dampier warns that his streaming projects might backfire. Dampier shared his thoughts on The Sun’s Royal Exclusive show, discussing the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s prospects and raising concerns about how past criticisms of the royal family could impact their future on-screen projects.

Dampier argued that Harry’s history of “bad-mouthing” the royals might make it difficult for the couple to build a sustainable career with Netflix. As Harry and Meghan shift their focus to different types of content, the royal expert is skeptical about their long-term success. “Making documentaries has never really gone well for the royals,” Dampier explained, recalling past attempts by royals, particularly Prince Edward, to create documentaries about the family, which “ended in disaster.”

The couple’s upcoming Netflix series is set to feature a documentary about Prince Harry’s passion for polo, alongside a cooking show by Meghan Markle. Netflix confirmed the polo documentary, which will air in December and promises to provide a “series that follows elite global players and offers an exclusive, behind-the-scenes look at the fast-paced world of the sport.”

Dampier warned Harry to avoid falling into the same traps that plagued previous royal ventures. “Harry needs to rein back,” he advised, stressing that the Duke should focus on other subjects and steer clear of additional commentary on the royal family. Dampier added, “Hopefully, we’re not going to get any more slagging off the royal family in his documentaries, and he moves into other things.”

As Harry and Meghan navigate new territory in the entertainment industry, Dampier’s remarks reflect a broader concern over whether they can successfully pivot away from their earlier, often controversial projects. The couple’s Netflix deal has so far produced mixed results, and as they delve into niche interests like polo and cooking, their ability to captivate audiences without focusing on royal tensions remains to be seen.

By heeding this advice, Harry could potentially strengthen his standing in the entertainment world while steering clear of controversies that could further strain family relations. With their new projects set for release soon, the Sussexes face a defining moment in their post-royal careers, balancing personal passions with public expectations and the shadow of their past royal critiques.
