Grant Harrold Highlights Prince Harry’s Enduring Royal Role, Suggests Potential Temporary Separation from Meghan for Duties

Prince Harry, despite not being the direct heir to the throne, continues to hold a pivotal role within the royal family, a fact emphasized by King Charles’ former butler, Grant Harrold. Harrold, who served Charles for seven years while he was the Prince of Wales, suggested that Prince Harry would rise to his royal responsibilities when required, even if it means having to part ways with his wife, Meghan Markle, in the United States temporarily.

The Duke of Sussex’s recent impromptu visit to his father, who was battling cancer, sparked widespread speculation about Harry’s potential reintegration into royal duties, especially during King Charles’ recovery period. Harrold pointed out that although Prince Harry is not the immediate successor, his position in the line of succession is significant enough to underscore his value to the royal family.

“It’s difficult to tell, and it’ll be interesting to see what goes on moving forward,” Harrold said of Harry’s return to The New York Post. “Harry is a counselor of state, so he is still a very senior member of the royal family, and if the time comes, he would step up if he needs to.”

Meghan Markle’s reluctance to return to the UK has been a topic of conversation, with royal commentator and author often cited as close to the Sussexes, Omid Scobie, stating that Meghan has expressed she will “never set foot back in the UK.” This sentiment adds complexity to the dynamics of Prince Harry’s potential involvement with the royal family and his physical presence in the UK.

He added, “I think it’s within all of their benefits to actually resolve these ongoing issues.”

The situation leaves room for speculation on whether Prince Harry will receive a formal request from the royal family to return to the UK and undertake official duties. Harrold’s insights into the royal family’s workings and the Duke of Sussex’s importance highlight the nuanced relationships and responsibilities that define the monarchy, suggesting that Prince Harry’s role, despite his current distance from the royal epicenter, remains indispensable. The unfolding scenario will further reveal how Prince Harry navigates his dual commitments to his family in the US and his obligations to the British monarchy.
