Prince Harry compared to Meghan’s father, Thomas Markle in brutal blow

Prince Harry has come under fresh criticism following his latest BBC interview, with a royal expert drawing a sharp comparison between the Duke of Sussex and Meghan Markle’s estranged father, Thomas Markle. The comments follow Harry’s recent legal defeat over his UK security arrangements, which continues to draw headlines and public scrutiny.
Royal commentator Charlotte Griffiths, speaking on GB News, said Harry’s latest public appearance bears a striking resemblance to the media tactics once employed by his father-in-law. Griffiths suggested that the Duke’s interview marks a new chapter in his ongoing estrangement from the royal family — and a possible pattern emerging in his attempts to communicate with them through the press.
“The irony is, if you remember Thomas Markle, when he couldn’t get hold of Meghan, he started doing interviews every six months,” Griffiths said during the live broadcast. “I think the same could happen with Prince Harry.”
In her discussion with presenters Stephen Dixon and Ellie Costello, Griffiths proposed that Harry may see interviews as a means of reconnecting with his father, King Charles III, despite his frequent criticism of the media.
“If he thinks getting in touch with his father is possible by speaking in an interview and speaking to the media, which he claims to despise so much, he’s kind of lost the plot, I’m afraid,” she stated. Griffiths went on to describe Harry as having “completely lost touch with reality” and labeled his public approach to family reconciliation as “delusional.”

The Duke’s recent BBC interview is the latest in a series of high-profile media engagements since stepping back from royal duties in 2020 alongside his wife, Meghan. While the Sussexes have often spoken out against media intrusion and tabloid culture, critics argue that their continued participation in high-profile interviews and documentaries undermines that stance.
Harry’s defeat in his legal battle over police protection during UK visits has added fuel to the fire, with public opinion divided over his entitlement to publicly funded security while living abroad. His remarks in the interview have reignited debate about the ongoing rift between the Sussexes and the rest of the royal family.
As speculation grows over the possibility of further interviews, Griffiths warned that Harry’s media strategy could backfire. “It’s sad, really, because what he likely wants is connection, but what he’s doing is pushing his family further away,” she concluded.
Whether or not the Duke’s intentions are reconciliatory or reactionary, his approach continues to polarize royal watchers — and could further entrench the distance between him and his royal relatives.
