Gwen Stefani confronted Blake Shelton about Adam Levine: ‘we kept it small, get over it
0The married couple allegedly had a serious conversation about the Maroon 5 singer.
Though Blake Shelton is leaving The Voice next year, rumors have it that his wife Gwen Stefani has already asked him to leave one of his show connections, former Voice coach Adam Levine.
The Voice returned to NBC on September 19 with season 22 featuring Blake, Gwen, John Legend, and newcomer Camila Cabello as coaches. However, hours before the premiere, Instagram model Sumner Stroh posted a TikTok in which she detailed an alleged yearlong affair with Adam, who has been married to Behati Prinsloo since 2014.
Shortly after, the Maroon 5 frontman issued an Instagram statement denying the affair while accepting “full responsibility” for “poor judgment” and “crossing the line.” According to various reports, more women have since come forward claiming to have received inappropriate messages from Adam.
The news sparked so many responses from fans and celebrities on the internet. Though it appears that Blake and Gwen have not publicly commented on the scandal, sources have reportedly told RadarOnline.com that the married couple discussed Adam. According to the publication, Gwen told Blake to “cut ties” and “distance himself” from the “Girls Like You” singer.
RadarOnline.com reported on October 13 that the situation was especially difficult for Gwen because she had a similar experience in 2015 when her ex-husband Gavin Rossdale allegedly had an affair. Behati is said to be “friendly” with the “Hollaback Girl” vocalist.
“For her, it’s personal,” the source told the site. “She isn’t worried about Adam being a bad influence [on Blake]; this is about principle.”
Furthermore, RadarOnline.com previously reported that Blake and Adam’s friendship has suffered since the “Cold” vocalist left The Voice. From 2011 to 2019, they shared the screen for seasons 1-16. “They haven’t spoken in a while. There was no big dramatic falling out, but they both just moved on,” a different source told the publication. “It happens all the time with work relationships.”
To be clear, none of these rumors have been confirmed. While it’s not clear whether what these sources are saying is true, it appears that Blake and Adam have recently kept their friendship under wraps. What we do know is that Adam was not invited to Blake and Gwen’s wedding in July of last year. However, this appears to be due to the couple’s wish to keep their wedding as intimate as possible.
“So I’ve had awkward conversations with, with so many of my friends since [the wedding] it’s ‘Oh, oh yeah. I read y’all. Yeah, I read about that. How was that?’” Blake explained on SiriusXM’s The Storme Warren Show last summer. “You know, I was like, ‘Listen, you know, we kept it small, get over it, you know, it’s not about you.'”
However, Blake did explicitly (and jokingly) reveal that he didn’t want Adam to attend their wedding because his former Voice co-star told Ellen DeGeneres that he didn’t “support their marriage” and planned to object during the ceremony.
“Purposely, [I] did not invite Adam Levine to my wedding, and I think it’s funny,” Blake later said on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.
