Gene Hackman Investigators Admit Stunning Mistake in Bombshell Confession

Just when the world thought it had some closure on Gene Hackman and his wife Betsy Arakawa’s tragic deaths, a new twist has thrown everything into question. On Monday, investigators admitted that Betsy believed to have died on February 11, was still alive a full 24 hours later. In a shocking revelation, preliminary phone records show she made multiple calls to a Santa Fe medical center on February 12—raising serious questions about the previously accepted timeline of events, reported Fox News.

The Santa Fe Sheriff’s Department confirmed this new detail, telling Fox News: “We can now confirm that Mrs. Hackman’s phone was utilized on the morning of February 12 to call a medical center in Santa Fe, Cloudberry Health.” They revealed that three calls were made that morning, all directed to the medical center. Even more bizarrely, an incoming call from the same clinic appeared on Betsy’s phone later that afternoon as a missed call.

This revelation backs up claims made by Dr. Josiah Child, a former emergency care specialist and the head of Cloudberry Health. He previously stated that Betsy had booked an appointment for February 12—an appointment made before her supposed death.

“She made an appointment for herself for February 12. It was for something unrelated to anything respiratory,” Dr. Child insisted. However, he also noted that she later canceled the visit, explaining that her husband’s deteriorating health had become her priority, according to Irish Star.

Given these new details, Dr. Child has cast doubt on whether her officially listed cause of death—hantavirus, a rare and deadly disease contracted from rodent exposure—tells the full story.

What makes the case even more puzzling is Betsy’s apparent condition leading up to her death. The doctor recalled speaking with her on February 10 and February 12, and noted that she showed no obvious symptoms of respiratory distress. “It is surprising that Mrs. Hackman spoke to my office on the phone on February 10 and again on February 12 and didn’t appear in respiratory distress,” he said. “Most patients who have hantavirus die in hospital.”

Meanwhile, Gene Hackman, who suffered from advanced Alzheimer’s, was reportedly alone in the couple’s home for days after Betsy’s death. Authorities believe he may not have even been aware of what had happened. He passed away on February 18, a week after Betsy, with his official cause of death listed as hypertensive atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease, with Alzheimer’s playing a significant role.

Tragically, no one found either of them until February 26, when a neighbor’s caretaker discovered their unresponsive bodies and called emergency services. With so many unanswered questions about Betsy’s final hours and what really happened inside their home, the mystery surrounding the deaths of this legendary Hollywood couple is far from over.
