Forestry Worker Dies After Tragic Quad Bike Accident

A forestry worker tragically lost her life after being crushed by her own quad bike in a fatal accident near Pitlochry, Scotland. Charlotte Lawrence, 33, was working in a forestry plantation on August 7 when the all-terrain vehicle she was riding flipped over, landing on top of her.

Despite emergency crews rushing to the scene, Charlotte, also known as Lotte, could not be saved and was pronounced dead at the site of the accident. Her father, William Lawrence, has since led the heartfelt tributes to his “darling daughter.” He shared, “My darling daughter and only child, Charlotte, was killed in a horrible, awful, terrible, tragic quad bike accident in Scotland. She was at work managing trees in a forestry plantation on a mountain near Pitlochry”, reports the Daily Record.

William recounted the tragic events, saying, “The quad bike flipped and was on top of her, but she managed to find the strength to call the emergency services. By the time the helicopter and medical team arrived, our beautiful darling Charlotte had already died.”

He expressed his grief, adding, “I don’t need to tell you that a light has gone out, and the last few days have been the worst of my entire life. Thanks for all the sympathy and kind messages. Sending love, light, peace, and happiness to all.”

Friends and colleagues also shared their memories of Charlotte. Michelle Midwinter described her as a source of joy and adventure, saying, “To know Lotte Lawrence is to know joy, sunshine, and adventure. A beautiful old soul, in a fiery pocket rocket body. You were always wise beyond your years, an adventurer at heart, and a true friend.”

Another friend, Em Fairer, added, “Her energy was infectious, her cheeky wicked smile lit up the room, and her soul truly shone, making everyone feel warm and happy every time you were in her presence.” A Police Scotland spokesperson confirmed the details of the incident, stating, “Around 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday, 7 August 2024, we were called to land in Balnaguard, Pitlochry, to an incident involving an all-terrain vehicle.

Emergency services attended, but a 33-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Enquiries are ongoing, but there don’t appear to be any suspicious circumstances. A report has been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal. The Health and Safety Executive has been informed.” A spokesperson for the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) added, “We are continuing to support Police Scotland’s investigation into this incident.”
