Father and Three Young Sons Found Dead in Surrey Home

In a heartbreaking incident, three children under the age of four were found dead alongside a man in a house in Staines, Surrey. The man, identified locally as Piotr Świderski, believed to be a Polish national, was discovered with the three boys at the house on Bremer Road on Saturday. Emergency services were called to the scene by ambulance crews at 1:15 pm, where they made the tragic discovery.

Surrey Police have confirmed that the man and the children were related, and have made a mandatory referral to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) due to “previous contact” with the family earlier in August. However, the police have not provided further details on the nature of that contact.

It is understood that Świderski was the father of the three children, who were twin boys and their younger brother. While authorities have yet to officially confirm the identities of the victims, their loved ones have been informed of the tragedy.

In an update on Sunday, Surrey Police confirmed that all three children were “under the age of four” and that their mother is currently receiving support. Detectives believe this to be an “isolated incident” with no third-party involvement, and post-mortem examinations are expected to be conducted in the coming days.

The quiet neighborhood was shaken by the news, with tributes being left outside the semi-detached home on Sunday. Neighbors described the family as a young Polish couple with three boys, and floral tributes were placed at the scene. One tribute read: “Rest in peace little ones. We will always think of you.”

A neighbor told Yahoo News, “This is like the quintessential quiet town – you’d never expect it. It’s just a normal house in a pretty normal street in a really boring place. Nothing happens round here – it’s a quiet little neighborhood.”

DCI Gareth Hicks, leading the investigation for Surrey Police, said, “This is a truly tragic incident, and a thorough investigation is underway to establish exactly what happened. We would like to thank the local community for their support and understanding whilst we have been conducting our inquiries.” He also noted that Bremer Road, which was closed for a significant amount of time on Saturday, has now fully re-opened, though a police presence will remain in the area for the foreseeable future.

Chief Inspector Lucy Sanders added, “This is a tragic loss of life in our community, and we are working to establish exactly what has occurred.” An IOPC spokesperson stated, “We have been notified by Surrey Police about the tragic incident in Spelthorne today. We will be assessing a referral from the force to decide whether any action is required by the IOPC.”
