Family Devastated After British Man Found Dead in Hotel Lift Shaft in Turkey

Tragedy struck in Antalya, Turkey, when 20-year-old Tyler Kerry, a labourer from Basildon, Essex, was found dead at the hotel where he was staying. Tyler’s body was discovered in the lift shaft on Friday morning, at around 7 AM local time (4 AM UK time), reported by the Guardian.

Tyler’s uncle, Alex Price, recounted the heartbreaking moment the family received the news. “I got a phone call from my sister, and she just said that Tyler had been found in the lift shaft at the hotel,” Mr. Price said. “An ambulance team were attending to him, but unfortunately, they weren’t able to resuscitate him, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.”

The circumstances surrounding Tyler’s death remain unclear. The family, still searching for answers, is being supported by a consular official and a representative from holiday company TUI. “We’re in the dark about what’s happened,” Mr. Price said.

Tyler was remembered as a “lovely young man” with a bright future. He and his girlfriend, Molly, were planning to move in together soon. “They were very settled,” said his uncle. “He was quite a mature young man for his age, very compassionate and kind, caring towards his family members and his younger siblings”, according to Yahoo.

The tragedy has left family and friends in mourning, with nearly £5,000 raised online to assist with funeral costs and the repatriation of Tyler’s body. The family hopes to bring him back to the UK by Tuesday.

A Foreign Office spokesperson confirmed their involvement, stating: “We are assisting the family of a British man who has died in Turkey.”

Tyler’s untimely death has sent shockwaves through his community, as loved ones struggle to come to terms with the loss of someone so young and full of promise. The online fundraiser has been met with overwhelming support, reflecting the impact Tyler had on those around him.

As the family awaits answers about what led to this devastating incident, they are focused on honoring Tyler’s memory and bringing him home. The outpouring of love and support highlights the compassion of those rallying around his grieving family during this unimaginable time.
