Elton John Opens Up: ‘I Can’t See Out of My Right Eye,’ Yet Stays Hopeful

Elton John, the iconic music legend, gave fans a rare update on his health during a recent appearance on Good Morning America. The 77-year-old superstar, joined by his husband David Furnish, shared that he “has never been better”—despite significant challenges with his eyesight.

“Well, David and I always have blood tests every six months in Los Angeles [and] our health has never been better,” the I’m Still Standing hitmaker revealed when asked about his well-being, reported by the Daily Mail.

While addressing his eyesight issues, Elton explained that he has been unable to see out of his right eye for “four months,” while his left eye is also “not the greatest.” Despite the challenges, the Rocket Man singer remains hopeful.

“There’s hope and encouragement that it will be OK. We’re taking an initiative to try and get it better, but at the moment that’s really what we’re concentrating on,” he clarified.

John admitted that the situation has been incredibly difficult: “I can’t see anything, I can’t read anything, I can’t watch anything,” he shared candidly. “It’s never fortunate for anything like this to happen.”

Despite these struggles, Elton John continues to push forward with his music and public appearances. Most recently, he joined pop sensation Dua Lipa on December 8th for a memorable duet of their hit collaboration Cold Heart at her Royal Albert Hall concert. The performance was a special treat for fans, though Elton had to be escorted off stage afterward due to his ongoing vision complications.
