Eamonn Holmes is being encouraged to send his ex-wife, Ruth Langsford, a simple “Happy Birthday” message today to keep things civil between them. The TV duo, who announced their split in May after 14 years of marriage, are currently going through a divorce, and relationship experts believe a small gesture could go a long way.
James Preece, a relationship expert from HeraHaven.com, weighed in on the situation, stating that it would be “rude” for Eamonn to ignore Ruth’s milestone 65th birthday. “A simple ‘Happy Birthday’ text is sufficient,” he explained. “He doesn’t need to make a big gesture, as this would be inappropriate, but he should at least acknowledge the day”, reported Lancs Live.
James warned that not reaching out could lead to unnecessary friction between the former couple, potentially becoming a discussion point in the future. “This is her first birthday without Eamonn in many years, and it could feel bittersweet,” he added. “There might be some sadness, and she may feel isolated or lonely as she previously celebrated with him.”
However, James also noted that Ruth may embrace the occasion as a fresh start. “She’s a strong woman, so while it might be bittersweet, I don’t think she’ll dwell on it for too long,” he said, advising her to spend the day with friends and family for support.
Since her split from Eamonn, Ruth has been making the most of her single life, often seen enjoying time with friends like Rylan Clark and Lizzie Cundy. She previously opened up about the divorce in an interview with Woman & Home Magazine, admitting it was a “very difficult” time but stressing that she had to move forward.
“You can let yourself crumble, or you pick yourself up and get on with life. It’s a choice,” she said. Meanwhile, Eamonn has seemingly moved on, now in a relationship with a 43-year-old relationship counselor Katie Alexander.
Whether or not he sends that birthday message remains to be seen, but according to experts, a simple text could help keep things amicable and prevent any lingering tension between the former This Morning host.
