Eamonn Holmes Explodes at Keir Starmer Over Migrant Hotel Scandal — “We’ll NEVER Fix This!”
Eamonn Holmes hasn’t held back in his latest takedown of the Government, slamming Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer over the ongoing migrant hotel crisis. Speaking on GB News, the veteran broadcaster made it clear he’s had enough, claiming the issue will “never” be sorted under Labour.
His comments come after the Treasury dropped a bombshell—saying that the use of hotels to house migrants isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. Despite Labour’s repeated pledges to shut them down, a new document from the Office for Value for Money revealed they’re likely to stay open for “years to come”, citing “global instability” as the excuse.
Currently, around 38,000 migrants are staying in these taxpayer-funded hotels, racking up a cost of £5.5 million per day. The same Treasury report even raised eyebrows over the private companies cashing in on the crisis, saying many have made “record profits in recent years”, which has led to accusations of profiteering.
Eamonn wasn’t having any of it. On his breakfast show, he said bluntly: “We’ll never get anywhere with this migrant crisis unless somebody gets tough and somebody basically breaks ranks on this. And it’s not going to happen under this Government, is it?”
He also took a swipe at Labour’s big housebuilding promise, accusing them of twisting its original purpose. “1.5 million homes have been promised to be built in England by 2029, but the National Audit Office is saying this is okay because it will help to reduce the use of hotels for asylum seekers,” he said. “But that’s not what these homes were intended for.”
Joining the debate, commentator Oscar Reddrop didn’t mince his words either, warning Labour could lose public support if they don’t put British families first. “If you just take a step back and you read that out, that will be so angering to the general public,” he said.
He continued, “It talks to fairness and it talks to people who’ve put in a lot into society, and they’ve worked and worked and worked… and they don’t get anything out. If that balance doesn’t tip, and we stop paying £5.5 million a day on hotels, then… there won’t be another Labour Government next time around.”
To make matters worse for Starmer, there are now 8,000 more asylum seekers in hotels than when he promised, during his election campaign, to scrap the system entirely and save taxpayers billions. It’s a pledge that’s starting to look more like wishful thinking than policy in action.
