Diddy Begins Serving Sentence at New Jersey Military Prison

Sean “Diddy” Combs has been transferred to a low-security military base prison in New Jersey to serve the rest of his sentence after a reported knife attack inside his previous facility.

CNN reported that the 55-year-old singer was moved early Thursday morning, October 30, to the Federal Correctional Institution in Fort Dix. The transfer came just days after reports that Diddy was nearly attacked while he slept at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center, where he had been held since his arrest in September 2024.

His attorneys had requested the move, citing Fort Dix’s rehabilitation programs and easier family access. They also argued that conditions at the Brooklyn jail were unsafe and unsuitable for their client, who they say had already been targeted.

The transfer followed what friends described as a frightening incident. Charlucci Finney, a close associate of Diddy’s, told the Daily Mail that an inmate armed with a shiv broke into his cell last week. According to Finney, Diddy woke up to find the weapon at his throat in what he called “a warning” rather than an attempt to kill him.

The alleged incident raised concerns about security for high-profile inmates in federal facilities. While Diddy was reportedly unharmed, his team insisted that he could no longer remain at the Brooklyn center safely.

Diddy was convicted in July on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution and sentenced on October 3 to 50 months in prison—just over four years. He will receive credit for time served and could be eligible for early release for good behavior.

Fort Dix, where he will now serve his sentence, is a low-security prison located on a military base in New Jersey. It houses inmates with nonviolent records and is known for its rehabilitation and education programs. Sources familiar with the facility say it offers a more stable and structured environment compared to the overcrowded conditions at the Metropolitan Detention Center.

According to those close to Diddy, he is keeping to himself and cooperating with prison staff while adjusting to the new setting. His legal team is focused on ensuring his safety and considering potential appeals in his case.

For now, the move to Fort Dix represents a calmer chapter in what has been a tumultuous few months for the once-celebrated music mogul.
