Denise Welch Shares ‘Bumpy’ Health Struggles After Abruptly Quitting Panto Role
Denise Welch, 66, has shared a heartfelt update on her health and festive celebrations with family on Instagram. The Loose Women star revealed that she had experienced a “bumpy few weeks health-wise,” which led to her having to pull out of her first pantomime in 12 years, reported by the Express. However, she expressed gratitude for feeling well enough to enjoy Christmas with her loved ones.
In an Instagram post, Denise wrote: “I’ve had a very bumpy few weeks health which resulted in sadly having to pull out of my first panto in 12 yrs. So it was lovely to feel well enough to enjoy Christmas with my family. I’m eventually getting around to posting a few videos. @gabbriette & Matty. #Bleaklowfarm.” The video showed Denise dancing with her son, Matty Healy, and his girlfriend Gabbriette, as they celebrated the holidays surrounded by a large Christmas tree, according to the Sun.
Denise later shared a photo of her family in matching tartan pajamas, sitting on a wooden bench with the stunning countryside backdrop. She also thanked the group, including her husband Lincoln Townley, for joining her in celebrating the festive period. “Thanks to @gabbriette & Matty and @lincolntownley for partying with me and bringing in the festive season,” she captioned the photo.
The Waterloo Road star also made light-hearted comments about her marriage’s age gap. Denise, who has been married to PR manager Lincoln since 2013, posted a sweet birthday message to him. “Happy birthday to my best friend in the entire world @lincolntownley. At 52, a tad too old for me but I’m ok with that,” she joked, poking fun at their 14-year age difference.
In addition to her family updates, Denise teased an upcoming appearance alongside Lincoln on Celebrity Hunted, which is set to air next month on Channel 4. But it was the revelation that her son Matty, the frontman of The 1975, will also make an appearance that caught fans’ attention.
A new trailer for the upcoming season of Celebrity Hunted, airing on Sunday, January 5, 2025, shows Matty in a scene where Denise and Lincoln dive for cover backstage at Radio 1’s Big Weekend while the band performs. In the clip, Matty says: “Seriously, what’s been going on? It’s been mental. I’ve been sending random messages to your phone.”
