Coleen Nolan Opens Up on “Unfair” Financial Struggles After Divorce!

Coleen Nolan has admitted that splitting assets after her divorce felt deeply unfair, and it’s made her rethink how she’d approach marriage in the future. As she marks her 60th birthday, the Loose Women star has revealed she’d consider getting a prenup if she ever tied the knot again—something she never thought about before her painful split from her second husband, Ray Fensome.

Despite being part of The Nolans, who sold over 30 million records, Coleen has been open about her financial struggles. She previously shared on the How to Be 60 podcast with Kaye Adams that after two failed marriages, she’d now insist on protecting her finances before walking down the aisle again, reported Lancs Live.

“No one thinks they’re going to split up. I got married twice, thinking both of them were for life. I never went into marriage thinking, ‘Oh what if it doesn’t work?’ But neither of them did in the end,” she reflected.

She described the legal process of divorce as incredibly stressful, saying: “It’s traumatic enough on an emotional level, but then when solicitors get involved, everything comes down to who owns what, how much have you got, give him 50 percent and off you trot. It’s a horrible stage, and I would like to have this worked out before ever going through it again.”

Looking back on her last divorce, Coleen confessed she never wants to experience anything like it again: “There were times, even though I didn’t hate Ray, where I was thinking, ‘Oh my God, this is so unfair.’”

Since her split from Michael Jones last year, Coleen has been feeling the financial strain of running her farm as the sole earner. With the cost of living skyrocketing, she told Woman’s Own magazine: “Bills are going up, mortgages have gone up. Just when you think, ‘Oh, okay, I can do this,’ then something else goes up, and you think, ‘Oh my God.’”

She admitted that while her lifestyle might look glamorous from the outside, the reality is much different. “Money that I make literally goes straight out on bills, the mortgage, like everyone, and insurance or whatever. So although it looks like I’ve got a lovely life, a lovely little farm, and it is lovely, and I know there are people worse off, I’ve still got those worries. Especially at the moment, mine is the only income coming in.”

Approaching 60 has also made her reflect on love and relationships. Speaking to The Mirror, she admitted feeling a bit of sadness at the thought of potentially never finding love again. “[I’m] turning 60 as a single woman and, while that’s right for me at this stage, I did have a moment this week of feeling a little sad that I might not get to love again.”
