Coleen Nolan Opens Up About Financial Struggles – ‘People Think I Have a Lovely Life, But I Don’t’

Coleen Nolan has openly discussed her financial challenges, emphasizing that her earnings go directly toward covering her bills. The Loose Women star shared her predicament, likening her money problems to those faced by many others, despite her notable success and fame.

Coleen, who gained fame as part of the pop group The Nolans alongside her sisters, revealed that their collective efforts did not significantly enhance their financial status. “They failed to boost our bank balances,” she confessed, highlighting that even after selling 30 million records, the group “didn’t end up with anything.” Transitioning from music, Coleen built a successful career in television and has been a regular on ITV’s daytime show Loose Women since 2000, reported by the Mirror.

Despite her long-standing presence on television, Coleen admitted to fears about keeping up with her financial obligations, including her mortgage. “Money that I make literally goes straight out on bills, the mortgage, like everyone, and insurance or whatever,” she told Woman’s Own. “So although it looks like, wow, she’s got a lovely life, a lovely little farm, and it is lovely, and I know there are people a lot worse off, I’ve still got these worries. Especially at the moment, mine is the only income coming in.”

As Coleen approaches her 60th birthday in March, she expressed a desire for a modest celebration to manage costs, contrasting it with her more lavish 40th and 50th birthdays. Speaking to Closer, she said, “I’m turning 60 feeling strong and confident, and quite proud of what I’ve achieved, especially in the past few years when I’ve achieved it on my own. Of course, I still lie in bed at night worrying about how I’m going to pay the bills, but it gives me the incentive to work hard, and that’s good.”

Coleen’s personal life has also seen changes, including a recent split from her boyfriend Michael Jones after a three-year relationship. The couple met on Tinder, and Michael even appeared on Loose Women with her. However, by the end of last year, they decided to part ways. Coleen shared that living full-time with Michael had caused anxiety about their relationship. When asked about adjusting to living alone again, she admitted, “If I’m honest, it was weird not living by myself.” She continued, “I think I found it more weird living full-time with someone. Maybe that’s what made me think, ‘Oh, I don’t know’.” Despite the breakup, Coleen maintains amicable relationships with Michael and her other exes, Shane Richie and Ray Fensome.

Coleen was previously married to Shane Richie from 1990 until their separation in 1999, and they have two sons together, Shane Nolan, 36, and Jake Roche, 32. With her second husband, Ray, she has a 24-year-old daughter, Ciara. Although she has expressed a desire to meet someone new, Coleen is currently enjoying her independence and embracing a more self-focused lifestyle.

Reflecting on her recent split, Coleen shared, “Michael came along at just the right time for me and I think over the last three-and-a-half years we’ve helped each other grow. I always choose to focus on the times that were great, not the sad ending.”

Despite her financial worries and personal changes, Coleen Nolan continues to thrive in her television career, offering relatable insights and maintaining a positive outlook as she navigates the complexities of life and fame.
