No Way I’d Give This Dog Back Coleen Nolan Welcomes 14 Year Old Rescue Buster as Her 29th Pet in Heartwarming Story

Coleen Nolan, known for her love of animals, has introduced a new four-legged friend into her already large household – a 14-year-old rescue dog named Buster, the Daily Record reported. On today’s episode of Loose Women, Coleen shared with co-hosts Ruth Langsford, Kelle Bryan, and Myleene Klass the heartwarming story of how she adopted the elderly dog despite vowing not to take in any more animals.

Coleen explained her initial hesitation, telling her co-hosts, “So I’d already decided we have too many animals – so no more animals.” However, that resolution quickly changed when her daughter, Ciara, sent her a video of Buster, a senior dog who had recently lost both his owners and his lifelong canine companion. “She said, ‘No, my mum’s not going to take it.’ He’s 14, and it’s really, really hard to find adopters for older dogs,” Coleen recounted. When she visited Buster at the sanctuary, his reaction was heartbreaking: “He just cried, and he was trembling because he didn’t want to go back in, and I was like, oh, we’ll foster him. There was no way I’d give this dog back.”

Known for her animal-loving ways, Coleen now cares for a remarkable 29 pets, a number she admits is daunting yet fulfilling. She clarified that not all are adopted or fostered and that some pets were inherited when she moved into her current home. “We’re up to 29 pets, but they’re not all adopted and fostered. We’re up to 29, and I hate odd numbers. I set a limit at six, and now we’re up to 29,” she shared with a laugh, as reported by The Mirror.

When asked about how Buster is adjusting to his new home, Coleen beamed, “He’s loving life now and rules the roost.”

Buster isn’t the only recent addition to Coleen’s animal family. She recently introduced a horse named Bojack, a 12-year-old Irish gelding, on social media, saying, “Welcome home to my brand new horse, Bojack! He is a beautiful 12-year-old Irish gelding. I can’t wait to show you all more videos and pics.”

Beyond her love for animals, Coleen has channeled her experiences with loss and grief into her latest book, A Hand to Hold, which explores various facets of grief, including the loss of pets. “I wanted to cover all forms of death – from parents and family and siblings to husbands and wives. And animals; people really grieve over animals, and unless you’re an animal lover, you don’t get it,” she explained.

She described the process of writing and recording the book as emotionally challenging, particularly the chapter on child loss. “To me, it has got to be the worst thing ever. And I found it sad listening to people talking about losing a child,” Coleen shared, underscoring her empathy for those who have experienced profound loss.
