Cody Simpson Reveals Real Reason about Why He and Miley Decided to Split

Australian actor Cody Simpson recently opened up about his infamous split with pop star Miley Cyrus last year after less than a year of dating, saying that they split “amicably.”

According to the details, on Sunday’s episode of Australian 60 Minutes, Cody, 24, broke his silence on their break-up, describing it as ‘fairly amicable’. “Everything ended fairly amicably. It was just one of those phases I guess you go through and you learn a lot from it,” he said.

“I’d known her for a long time at that point,” Cody said about the Wrecking Ball star before adding “not like a mentor but always a very hyper creative person”.

The Australian singer-turned-swimming sensation went on to describe that time in his life as ‘one of those phases’. “We went from being good friends, to just having a lot of the same friends, to being together for a while,” he continued.

Elsewhere during the interview, Cody joked how he ‘tried not to’ date such famous girls in his younger years in Hollywood. Cody, who was raised on the Gold Coast and moved to America when he was just 13 in search of a pop career, went on to date Kylie Jenner and Gigi Hadid.

Meanwhile, Miley confirmed the split in August last year in an Instagram Live clip, telling fans they were taking time apart to ‘work on’ themselves. “A year ago, almost to this exact date, the media tried to tell my story for me, and control my narrative, and I’m just not accepting that…so today, it came out that me and my boyfriend have broken up,” she said.

“It was confirmed by a ‘reliable source’ even though no one is reliable in a relationship except the individuals who are participating in it. But right now, two halves can’t make a whole and we’re individually just working on ourselves to become the people that we wanna be, like everybody else at this age,” she continued.
